Hi, I go by the artist name Da Gift. Im originally from Birmingham Alabama, But has relocated to Atlanta about 4 years ago. I fell in love with hip-hop when I was about 7 years old. That was around the time I first heard LL COOL J. My dad left me a old turntable, and that's when me and my older brother would have scratching and rap battles. He'd either be KOOL MOE DEE, or RUN DMC. And ill always be LL. As I grew older, I would practice mimicking LL and Rakim until I actually thought I was them lol! Then moving into the 90s, I would do the same thing would artist like DMX, JAYZ, JA RULE, BONE THUGS, EMINEM ect. I would literally practice this all day everyday until people would call me crazy! Doing this would help me build my own style creating my own identity. By the early 00s. I would join a group by the name of SPG. And that's where my artist name Da Gift came from. Because everyone would hear me mimicking those artist I mentioned. And would say man that's a Gift to be able to do that. So we put out a couple of albums, and after that we split and that's when I went solo. I put out a demo around 2007, and that's when I became disinterested in making music, and wasn't pleased with the direction in which hip-hop was going. So I stepped away for 7 years. Around 2014, I had friends telling me they had been missing my music, and wanted to hear some new material. So I came back around 2015.
